Antigua is one of the oldest coffee-growing regions in Guatemala and is famous for producing some of the best coffees in the world.
This coffee from Finca Medina underwent black honey processing. First, the cherry skin (pulp) is removed and the coffee beans are left with their mucilage. Then they are slowly dried under shade and closely monitored until they reach the optimum moisture levels.

Antigua is one of the oldest coffee-growing regions in Guatemala and is famous for producing some of the best coffees in the world.
Founded more than 150 years ago, the family-owned Finca Medina is located in the outskirts of Antigua. Finca Medina is dedicated to advanced technology in coffee production and milling processing like their drip irrigation system while also maintaining traditional work techniques. Being also committed to sustainability, the Finca especially attaches importance to ensuring the wellbeing of their employees, maintaining awareness and care of the production environment as well as maintaining a high production of high quality coffee.
This is being ensured through a professional laboratory where the necessary quality controls are carried out for every single lot of this genuine Antigua coffee. The preservation of the ecosystem and the proper maintenance of the shade trees are of utmost importance to the coffee plantation. Therefore, 10 ha of land are being preserved as unspoiled nature so that the biodiversity of flora and fauna can prosper and thrive unhindered.

SWEET, FRUITY, LIQUORICE, TANGERINE, SUGAR CANE MOLASSES Coffee is a relative newcomer to Papua New Guinea considering that the commercial coffee production in the country dates back to 1926/1927 when the first Jamaica Blue Mountain seeds were planted. Making up a share of approx. 70% the coffee production is largely characterized by small farmers with land holdings that grow as little as 20 trees per plot in so called “coffee gardens” alongside subsistence crops. VERY WINEY, SWEET, RED CHERRIES, INTENSE PORT WINE, VELVET BODY This single-variety Red Honey Caturra coffee is cultivated on the Tres Milagros farm in Higuito, Tarrazú. After the ripe coffee cherries have been picked, they are transported to the Beneficio Fatima, where they are processed. In a first step, the cherries are partly pulped. About 80% of the mucilage remains on the beans. Afterward, the cherries are placed on raised African beds for ten days. During these days, they are constantly controlled and protected from too hot or moist weather conditions. The final drying step takes place in a drum dryer to allow for an even drying process.
